I can't believe it is already August! As summer draws to a close Marketing Mix Studio has officially launched! We are excited to take on this next phase and look forward to working with new clients.
We brought Sarah Pfeffer (soon to be Mrs. Wood, she gets married this coming weekend!) on as our new graphic designer. She has already done some great work re-working our logo and creating new icons for our website (soon to be uploaded). We will post her formal bio when she gets back from her honeymoon. Congrats Sarah!
In some other news we recently added a new client, J&B Image Promotions. We will be working with them to update their newsletter and blog twice a month. We are slated to start working on this project in August and can't wait!
Our next project we will be working on is updating the website. We will be updating our services page, as well as add the new logo and icons. Well that's all the updates for now!

Marketing Mix Studio Updates!
Wow it's only July 8th and its been a wildly busy month! My apologies for the lack of blog updates but we have had a lot of changes over the last few weeks. JeNae is no longer a partner in Marketing Mix Studio, but rather a web consultant. She is dedicated to providing top notch work and felt that it was best she step down and focus on her family at this time. We will still be working with her on various projects on a consultant bases and I am looking forward to whats to come. So in addition to her, we have added another web designer and graphic designer. Bios on them coming soon!
We now have an updated website: http://www.marketingmixstudio.com/ which I am really excited about! We are still doing some updates but for the most part its all coming together. Our plan is to launch by the end of this month, more details to come!
On a personal note I made the big announcement that I am pregnant! Justin and I are really excited and our new addition will be coming in January! Thanks for the continued support and we will keep you posted on all the latest happenings :)

So you have a blog, now what?
Blog’s can be a great source of information for your customers, however coming up with something week after week can be daunting. Here are some ideas and inspirations for those times when you get the notorious writers block.
-Think about the top questions you get asked by your customers and write a blog addressing those questions.
-What are you working on? You can easily upload pictures and show your readers what your business is up too.
-Interview someone in your industry. Provide your readers with an interesting interview from an industry insider.
-Travel. Get inspired by your surroundings. You don’t have to travel to far off distances even listing some local hot spots can create a blog entry.
-Read. Select a few articles that you have read or provide reviews on books you have recently read relating to your industry.
-Surf the net. By searching the internet you can find interesting articles, stories or pictures for your posts.
-Shop. This is my personal fav :) Shop for things or services for your industry and sharing that with your readers.
-Write a review. In business you use a lot of different services and make great connections so share that with your readers and give your rave reviews about who you use. (Be careful with this one though if your writing a negative review, it could come back to bite you)
-Try new places and things. By trying out new places or things you are not only staying current within your industry but you can provide readers with why your way of doing things is better than the competition.
-Get technical. Are their certain aspects of your business that leave people scratching their heads? Explain in layman’s terms something about your industry.

Top 5 Twitter Tips
1.) To be relevant on Twitter updates must be consistent and frequent. Update one to four times a day. Twitter differs from Facebook in that you should be posting something everyday (M-F/8-5). It doesn’t have to be your deepest darkest thought but a quick update will do.
2.) Posts don’t have to be about what you’re doing every second of every day. Posts for businesses can be personal (like what projects you’re currently working on), RT’s (AKA re-tweets of follower’s relatable topics), links to interesting articles or a link to a new blog post.
3.) Find “friends” that interest you, relate to you/your business AND that you will benefit from their tweeting. Don’t feel bad if you don’t follow everyone that follows you! By doing so you will limit the time spent thumbing through spam tweets.
4.) Build relationships with your followers. Twitter is not all about you…. So make sure to engage in conversation through your tweets. Twitter is a community and can be highly beneficial for business but you must know how to reach your followers. Most importantly under no circumstances does this mean sending DM’s with sales pitches!
5.) Learn the Twitter lingo….. If you don’t know what @, DM, # or #FF mean then you must do some research before you get on Twitter.
So I know I said top 5 tweet tips but I must throw in one more….6.) Have Fun! :)

Flaunt Worthy Fonts
On most computers Times New Roman is the default font, and in my opinion the most boring (it brings me back to the days of writing school papers and no one wants to be reminded of that!) Well I'm here to tell you we have come a long way since the days of only having a few fonts to select from. In fact, typography can be an inexpensive way to create an interesting and dynamic marketing design. So this week’s blog features a few of my newest font favorites! Use these fonts or others, to spice up your website or make attention-grabbing marketing material. Just be careful that it is still easy to read and flows with your overall design objectives. Enjoy!
Featured Fonts:
Orial- I love that the swirls add delicateness to this bold typography.
FontDinerDotCom- Retro, yet whimsical this font reminds me of a 50’s diner.
El&Font Block- This graffiti style font would be hard to pull off for most businesses. But….I think given the right audience and industry, like an urban fashion blog and this font could add some edginess.
Green Piloww- I love the organic handwritten characteristics of this font. I think it would be perfect for a green business.
TrashCo- Grungy with ink splatter spots, this typography is funky and functional.
Vtks Revolt- I like that the capital letters are different from the rest of the word. This one is creative yet easy to read which is key.

Douglas County Divas April Networking Event
JeNae and I had the pleasure of attending our third DC Divas event on Tuesday night, which of course was SO much fun! If you are not familiar with the DC Divas, you should get acquainted because I’m sure they will be taking over a bar near you :) The networking group was started by Pam Anderson, Heidi Mendoza and Theresa Buckley and meets the third Tuesday of every month. It is a free fun networking group to meet businesswomen in and around Douglas County. I can’t say enough great things about how well the events turn out, the fabulous women we meet and the always fun diva drink of the night (Tuesday nights drink was a mix of pineapple infused vodka and pomegranate liquor YUM!) The event this month had a new twist and started an hour early at the new eco friendly boutique, Chrysalis. Chrysallis was a perfect fit for the event since this week we celebrate earth day. Chrysalis is located in the new Streets of Southglenn shopping area located on Arapahoe and University. If you have not been in this newly revitalized shopping area I highly recommend it. They have awesome new restaurants and shops. It’s also all outside so you can walk the streets and take in the gorgeous Colorado spring weather. Later in the evening we moved over to Bar Louie across the street. Bar Louie is a trendy new bar with a fantastic happy hour. Needless to say the event was a huge success and we are already looking forward to attending the next event in May!
Check out some of the pics snapped at the event:
